Birch Tower Botanical Art
Birch Tower with Butterflies, mixed media botanical art.
We strive to bring the outdoors indoors by using found natural materials and preserved botanicals. By utilizing organic elements such as mushrooms, mosses, insects and butterflies, we capture the woodlands environment and preserve it for your indoor enjoyment!
Media: Yellow birch logs, wire, dry foam, wool cord, preserved botanicals including: hydrangea, roses, parchment fern, bear grass, leptospermum, hanging amaranth and calla lily.
Process: Our botanical artwork is constructed by finding a unique vessel; such as a hollowed out birch log, and then sketching out how the botanials will be applied. During the planning stages we also add details such as wool cord and other embellishments. We are very meticulous in the application of materials such that they were intended to be combined together by nature itself. In other words, no glue should show through and botanicals are arranged in such a manner as to replicate what occurs naturally in nature.
Care: Your artwork will last a very long time if properly taken care of. We recommend keeping all botanicals, whether preserved or dry, out of direct or intense light as this will degrade the color intensity and makeup of the materials.
To keep your artwork free of dust, use a blow dryer on ‘air only’ setting and gently blow the collected dust or debris from the surface. Refrain from placing your artwork in situations where it will gather dust or debris quickly as it is very hard to remove deposits once accumulated without damaging the components.
To store your artwork we recommend placement into an airtight container containing silica gel pouches which will regulate moisture content. Place the container in a cool, dark, dry place for storage.
